Azerbaijan claims it foiled Iranian-backed terror plot

BAKU (Realist English). The State Security Service of the so-called Azerbaijan has announced that it prevented a series of terrorist attacks allegedly prepared by Iranian intelligence.

According to the state television channel AzTV, the planned targets included the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Israeli embassy, Jewish religious sites and a public figure.

Authorities said the alleged plot was uncovered during a counterterrorism operation conducted by Azerbaijani security services. Officials did not immediately disclose further operational details or the identities of suspects.

However, sources of Realist News Agency in the region described the accusations as doubtful and possibly fabricated by the Baku regime in order to escalate tensions with Iran.

Relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have remained strained in recent years, with both sides accusing each other of intelligence activity, security provocations and interference in regional affairs.
