STEPANAKERT (Realist English). The purpose of escalating tensions around Artsakh is not an armed attack by the mini sultanate, but an attempt to provoke the outflow of Artsakh Armenians, Realist Editor-in-chief Sarkis Tsaturyan believes.
“This is a simple Turkish formula: If there are no Armenians, then there is no Armenian statehood. Therefore, I urge all thinking public figures and journalists not to be influenced by this idiotic chorus from Baku. If the mini-sultanate could capture Stepanakert without any international consequences, it would have happened in 2020 already. We understand that it was not Russia that stopped them then, but completely different forces. Today, it is more important for Baku to sell gas to Europe at an exorbitant price, and not to be condemned by this very Europe,” he wrote in his telegram channel.
In his opinion, “Europe is humiliated by the crisis in Ukraine, and America did not appear in the best light, but it cannot fully recoup on Russia due to objective reasons. Still, it will recoup on Baku with great joy”: “The more so that the elections are nearing for many. As for Russia, in its current situation, the issue of the status of Artsakh is the only topic on which it can negotiate with the West. Previously, the Kremlin would have been happy to give you everything, but it can no longer — for its own reasons. So you are furious with impotence, trying to terrorize the Armenians of Artsakh. It won’t work! You’ve already missed your chance. Accept it.”
In recent days, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been shelling more intensively the settlements of Artsakh, including with mortars.
From September 27 to November 9, 2020, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the participation of Turkey and international terrorists, carried out aggression against Artsakh. Aliyev’s kleptocratic regime used missile and artillery weapons, heavy armored vehicles, combat aircraft and prohibited weapons, including cluster bombs and phosphorous weapons.
Turkish Bayraktar drones, which caused great damage, were also actively used. The strikes were carried out, among other things, on civilian and military facilities on the territory of Armenia.
