MOSCOW (Realist English). Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree increasing the authorized number of servicemen in the country’s armed forces by 2,640 personnel, bringing the total to 1,502,640 soldiers.
The document, published by the Kremlin, also sets the overall authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces at 2.4 million personnel. According to the decree, the total staff level is now fixed at 2,391,770 positions, including 1,502,640 military personnel.
The increase slightly expands the previous limit, under which the number of servicemen stood at about 1.5 million.
The decree forms part of a broader adjustment of the armed forces’ structure and staffing levels amid ongoing military operations and heightened security tensions. Russian authorities have repeatedly emphasized the need to strengthen the country’s military capabilities and expand personnel capacity.
