Putin stresses unity and responsibility in New Year address to Russians

MOSCOW (Realist English). Vladimir Putin delivered his traditional New Year address to the nation, telling citizens that Russia’s future largely depends on social unity, internal resilience and a shared readiness to take responsibility for the fate of the country.

The Russian president said that personal hopes and plans are inseparable from the destiny of the state, arguing that the work and achievements of each individual contribute to new chapters in Russia’s millennia-long history. According to Putin, the strength of national unity directly determines the country’s sovereignty, security and long-term development.

He described the New Year as a time of faith in the future, when the values of love, friendship, compassion and mutual support are felt most strongly. Putin called on citizens to show special care for those in need and expressed gratitude to participants in what he referred to as the special military operation.

Addressing Russian servicemen, Putin said they had assumed responsibility “to fight for their native land, for truth and justice,” adding that millions of people across the country were thinking of them on New Year’s Eve. “We are united in sincere, devoted love for Russia,” he said, expressing confidence in victory.

Concluding his address, Putin wished citizens health, happiness, prosperity and mutual understanding. He underlined the importance of tradition, faith and historical memory as the foundation linking generations, and said Russia remains “one big family” capable of moving forward, building and achieving its goals for the sake of future generations.

The president ended by congratulating Russians on the upcoming 2026 New Year and wishing the country continued development and strengthening in the year ahead.
