TEHRAN (Realist English). Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Wednesday that strengthened cooperation between Iran, Russia and other independent states demonstrates that “the era of unilateralism in the world is over.”
Speaking during talks in Tehran with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, Pezeshkian argued that countries can achieve development “without the need for or dependence on unilateral powers.” He stressed that Iran is committed to implementing bilateral agreements in transport, energy and power generation, and called on both governments’ experts and ministers to redouble efforts.
“There is no obstacle in the way of Tehran-Moscow cooperation and the implementation of mutual agreements,” the Iranian president said, adding that frequent exchanges of delegations would further strengthen ties between the “friendly and allied” nations.
Tsivilev, carrying greetings from President Vladimir Putin, praised constructive work within the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission and pledged Moscow’s readiness to carry out agreements “without any delay.” He emphasized that neither sanctions nor external pressure would prevent closer trade and economic cooperation.
Iran and Russia, both under heavy Western sanctions, have steadily expanded their partnership in recent years, deepening collaboration across energy, infrastructure and defense.
