Russia targets Dubno airbase in massive overnight strike

KYIV (Realist English). Russia launched a large-scale overnight attack on Ukrainian territory, with the main target appearing to be a military airbase near the city of Dubno in Rivne region. The strike, which involved a combination of long-range drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, marks a notable shift in Russian tactics — from broad, dispersed strikes to concentrated hits on specific strategic sites.

According to Ukrainian monitoring channels and online sources, dozens of Iranian-made Shahed drones, 10 cruise missiles, and two Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were used in the attack on the Dubno airfield. Strategic bombers and missile-launching ships in the Black Sea also took part in the operation.

In addition to the Dubno base, Russian missiles reportedly hit platforms near Zmiinyi (Snake) Island and military-related infrastructure in Kyiv, where ballistic missile strikes were reported in large numbers.

Military analysts noted that the scale and focus of the strike suggest a deliberate Russian attempt to severely damage or disable key elements of Ukraine’s air force infrastructure. “We are seeing a shift from wide-area disruption to targeted elimination,” one analyst said.

While the full extent of damage has not yet been officially confirmed by Ukrainian authorities, unverified footage circulating online shows explosions and fires at the suspected strike sites.
