Truss’s resignation: Britain’s elite confuses incompetence with lack of initiative

The modern world is in crisis. Moreover, the crisis is so great that any sharp action of the authorities only aggravates it. In these conditions, people without initiative have to be in power: they will not bring benefits, but they will not do harm either. The British elite, having made a bet on the Truss, made a mistake, confusing incompetence with lack of initiative, Dmitry Zhuravlev notes.

LONDON (Realist English). British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation on the 45th day of her premiership. The reasons for this resignation are obvious: attempts to carry out reforms in the field of taxation, which provoked a sharp dive of the stock market, the national currency and confidence in the government. Under these conditions, keeping Truss in office would mean the inevitable defeat of the Conservatives in the next election, which could not satisfy the real elite of Britain.

And so the head of one of the semi-public institutions of the British elite, the 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady, meets with Truss, after which she immediately agrees to resign, although formally she had immunity from resignation. There is nothing unexpected in this story in and of itself. The modern world is governed by a narrow circle of non-public figures, but they interfere in the process when their domesticated politicians bring the situation to a serious crisis. So it happened now, because the rule of this woman could have blown Britain to smithereens, so the owners kicked out their inept servant.

There is no enigma in the retirement of Truss, there is an enigma in her appointment. How could such an incompetent person be appointed to such a high post? Meanwhile, this appointment has become not accidental, but conscious. How so? But everything is logical here. It was incompetence that became Ms. Truss’s pass to the highest authority.

The modern world is in crisis. Moreover, the crisis is so great that any sharp action of the authorities only aggravates it. In these conditions, people without initiative have to be in power: they will not bring benefits, but they will not do harm either. The US elite has found a very effective option in the person of Joseph Biden, it is his state of health that guarantees the American ruling class the absence of harmful initiatives on his part.

The British elite made a mistake by confusing incompetence and lack of initiative. More precisely, as people who control reality, it simply could not occur to them that it is possible to modernize a process whose meaning you do not understand. And for the Truss, it’s a snap, she’s so incompetent that she doesn’t even understand that she doesn’t understand anything.

The British elite has corrected their mistake, but the problem remains, a non-initiative government still is necessary. And they did not find any other guarantees of non-initiative, except for illness and stupidity. Therefore, we are waiting for many more stupid and sick leaders.

But that’s not even the worst part of it. By turning the political Olympus into a refuge for idiots, they have made stupidity the standard of modern society. Being stupid has become decent, even fashionable. And this leads to the degradation of science, culture and education, and, ultimately, of the whole society. That’s what’s scary.
