MOSCOW (Realist English). Slowing down the pace of the offensive during the special military operation in Ukraine is a conscious decision due to the desire to minimize civilian casualties, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

“In the course of the special operation, we strictly observe the norms of humanitarian law. Strikes are carried out with precision weapons on objects of the military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of the Ukraine — command and control points, airfields, warehouses, fortified areas, objects of the military-industrial complex. At the same time, everything is being done to avoid civilian casualties. Of course, this slows down the pace of the offensive, but we are doing this consciously.” the head of the defense department explained.

According to him, the special operation is going according to plan, all tasks will be completed.

“Western armaments supplies to the Ukraine multiply the number of victims and prolong the military conflict on the territory of this country.” Shoigu said at a meeting of defense ministers of the SCO member states.

The special military operation launched by the Russian Armed Forces on February 24 thwarted a large-scale offensive by shock groups of Ukrainian troops on the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics not controlled by Kiev.

The decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin made it possible to save tens, if not hundreds of thousands, of Donbass civilians, whom the Kiev regime has been methodically shelling with large-caliber and rocket artillery for the past eight years, driving the elderly, women and children into basements.
