MOSCOW (Realist English). Russia’s special military operation in the Ukraine has awakened hopes in Tiraspol that Transnistria will become a recognized sovereign state in the near future, Russian politician and statesman Sergei Baburin said in an interview with Realist Information Agency.

“Transnistria has enough problems of its own to participate in the Ukrainian crisis as well. Therefore, all political forces in Tiraspol should think about how to ensure the security of their statehood and their people. What is happening on the territory of the Ukraine, of course, is reflected in Transnistria. This is a battle for the future of the Russian world. It is this battle that is taking place on the Ukrainian territory. Neo-Nazism has always been alien to Transnistria. It is important that the sacred attitude to our cultural and historical traditions, which is peculiar to Transnistria, at least in approximation came to the liberated territory of the Ukraine.” the interlocutor of the Realist Information Agency stressed.

Baburin reminded the policy of Romania and Moldova in relation to Transnistria: “In 1992, the Romanians already tried to seize Transnistria, under the guise of Moldovan ground troops were Romanian, we know this very well. Therefore, it is necessary to expect nastiness, and it is necessary to fight against these nastiness. I am sure that both Russia and Transnistria will be able to do this.”

On April 27, the Armed Forces of the Ukraine shelled the settlement of Kolbasna in Transnistria, where the largest Europe’s ammunition depot is located.

Councilor to the head of the Office of the President Alexey Arestovich said that the Ukraine can seize Transnistria at the “snap of the fingers”, but only if there is a corresponding appeal from Moldova.

Earlier, a series of terrorist attacks took place in Transnistria. On April 25, unidentified persons fired at the building of the Ministry of State Security with grenade launchers. And on April 26, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported that two communication towers broadcasting Russian radio were blown up near the settlement of Mayak. The country has adopted “red level of terrorist threat.”
