The West has abandoned the legacy of its great humanists

Remark, Brecht, Hemingway, Vonnegut — in their books you will not find hatred, only pain and regret. Instead, the West came to believe in its own exclusivity. And all dissenters are threatened with a "cancel culture", introducing undisguised censorship of opinions, beliefs, stressed the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

The West has abandoned the legacy of its great humanists

MOSCOW (Realist English). Russia does not cultivate her own superiority over others, we do not form the image of an enemy from entire countries and peoples, Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko wrote in a blog on the website of the upper house of the Parliament.

“Therefore, today in Ukraine, soldiers and officers of the Russian army are doing everything to minimize the destruction, to prevent the death and sufferings of civilians. As we can see, the all—humanity of the soul of the Russian man, his ability to respond to the pain of everyone’s suffering, as our great writer Fyodor Dostoevsky spoke about, they have not gone away, they are still with us. They are in the very cultural and moral code of the Russian nation.” she stressed.

Valentina Matvienko noted that the collective West has actually abandoned the legacy of its own great humanists, who spoke of kindness, of love for all people, for all mankind:

“Remark, Brecht, Hemingway, Vonnegut — in their books you will not find hatred, only pain and regret. Instead, the West came to believe in its own exclusivity. And all dissenters are threatened with a “cancel culture”, introducing undisguised censorship of opinions and beliefs.

By the way, the word “culture” in this phrase is inappropriate at all. Culture is about something else entirely. The word “barbarism” is appropriate here, and this shameful, inhumane, inherently racist phenomenon should be defined that way.”

The Chairman of the Federation Council hopes that Europe will still find new humanists, and “this will not require another world massacre.”

“But so far, attempts are being intensified in the West to rewrite our common history, to erase the memory of the heroism of Soviet soldiers in the Great Patriotic War. As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted, the West, pursuing its goals, is increasing the number and scale of information attacks against our country, wants to make us excuse, to feel guilty,” she added.

In her opinion, the West is well aware that еру pride in the Victory, the great feat of the multinational Soviet people, the memory of him is a powerful factor in rallying the people of modern Russia, of their national dignity and patriotic feelings:

“That’s why they are trying to deprive us of these symbols, which is equivalent to attempts to undermine from within our country and the society. It won’t work. We have no right to allow this, and we will not allow it.”
