What is the real size of the Ukraine’s “field army”

Zelensky's active army is about 300 thousand people who are either already at the front or ready to be there at any moment. The armed formations controlled by Kiev are opposed by about 200 thousand fighters of the Allied Forces. The enemy still has a numerical advantage, but it is not as overwhelming as write some, including Russian military correspondents, military analyst Yuri Podolyaka stressed.

KIEV (Realist English). The Ukrainian armed formations do not have 1 million people under arms, even the number of 700 thousand people cited by the leader of the Kiev regime Zelensky is incorrect, military analyst Yuriy Podolyaka believes.

“I often hear, including from the mouths of military officers: “It doesn’t matter how many Ukrainian armed forces were shot down there, but it is important that the mobilization apparatus of the Ukraine is capable to putting 1 million people under arms, and even 2 million.” Thus, the public is given the idea that the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces are not so important. Rather, they in no way affect not only the combat capability of the remaining armed forces, but even their numbers. In fact, everything is not as rosy for Kiev as it seems to experts, including from the one on our side.” he said.

Podolyaka explained that there are lots of units in the army that never find themselves in the trenches. For example, the number of the AFU Air Force is about 50 thousand. There are about 20 thousand people in the Ukrainian Navy, but only two Marine brigades — the 35th and 36th — are really fighting. This is about 5-6 thousand people.

There are lots of rear facilities that also “eat” more than a dozen thousand people. All units of the National Guard of the Ukraine are also counted here — about 60 thousand, of which only three brigades have been noyiced at the front so far. That’s about 10 thousand. The rest of the National Guard are essentially units of the police and the protection of particularly important facilities.

“It is not so difficult to count the Ukrainian field army. The number of brigades of the ground forces, amphibious assault, marine corps, National Guard, as well as territorial defense, which is at the front, is known. Together with artillery brigades, this is about 80 brigades in total. The regular number of a brigade is on average 2.5 thousand people. It is clear that they are now staffed out of state, i.e below th regular level. Let’s assume that they are staffed by staff to the regular level, they are trying to maintain this number at the expense of the mobilized. Thus, in total the field army of the Ukraine is 200 thousand people. Here we need to add pilots who fly, the personnel of the air defense, the logistics, the corps of engineers, etc. And with the average of 700 thousand, Zelensky’s active army is about 300 thousand people who are either already at the front or ready to be there at any moment.” the military expert noted.

Podolyaka added that the armed formations controlled by Kiev are opposed by about 200 thousand fighters of the Allied Forces, including the Russian Army, the forces of the Republics of Donbass and volunteers.

“The enemy still has a numerical advantage, but it is not as overwhelming as some write, including Russian military correspondents. This preponderance of the Ukrainian armed forces is beginning to shrink. And by winter, we may see parity in the number of armies that participate in combat operations.” he explained.

In May of this year, the leader of the regime in Kiev, Zelensky, said that 700 thousand soldiers were under arms. According to him, for a country like the Ukraine, an army of not 250 thousand or 260 thousand is needed, and there were about 120 thousand people fighting there, but much more.
