What are the terrorists trying to achieve by instilling fear and horror in society

The information on the murder of Daria Dugina is operational in nature — they have yet to be tested in court, reminds Sergey Dukhanov.

Alexander Dugin and his daughter Daria Dugina

MOSCOW (Realist English). On August 23, in Moscow, people paid their respects to the political scientist Daria Dugina, who was killed a few days ago by agents of the special services of the Kiev regime. The Ostankino television center became the place for the farewell ceremony for the daughter of the philosopher and public figure Alexander Dugin, who died at the age of 30.

Colonel (Res.), knight of the Order “For Military Merit” Sergey Dukhanov, in an interview with the Realist News Agency, shared his opinion about the tragedy and drew attention to the problem of ensuring public safety and security in Russia:

“Firstly, not being acquainted with Daria, I was delighted with how mature she was in moral, volitional and intellectual relations. On a TV show. where everyone is shouting both to the point and out of turn, she was an island of competence, sanity, poise and light. To say that I deeply sympathize with Daria’s family and friends is to say nothing. And there are no words with which to comfort them. If they need to be comforted. In these bitter days, they should be proud of Daria and what she managed to do in her short but bright life.

Secondly, I would say that the legalistic approach of our authorities, from the point of view of imposing responsibility, may be balanced from a legal point of view, but, from a political point of view, it is clearly late – as usual. The Americans in similar situations at the highest level do not care to wait for at least the slightest data from the investigative authorities. They come out to the public in the very first moments after a resonant murder has been committed, laying the blame on their (external) political opponents. And they don’t care what the investigation says later. The main thing is to assign, to attribute the blame. And the first thing that is attributed in such cases is cowardice (even if people — terrorists — deliberately sacrificed their lives when committing a terrorist attack).

Apparently, I am “spoiled” by life and work in the States, but I think this approach is correct. In such cases, procrastination speaks of the weakness of the government — the weakness of its will (especially the will to win in confrontation with the enemy), its inability to take decisive and quick action. And demonstrating exactly this is the goal of the terrorists.

Let me remind you that murder is only a form of manifestation of terrorist activity. Similarly, instilling an atmosphere of fear and horror among the population is a tool, a means. And the main goal is to convince the population of the inability of the current government to lead the country, to undermine the confidence of the population in the authorities, the conviction that the authorities are able to manage the situation. And the government should not allow terrorists to achieve this goal. Otherwise, it is not the government, otherwise the terrorists achieve their goal.

Thirdly, I take off my hat to the counterintelligence bodies, which identified the perpetrators of this terrorist act in such a short time, including obtaining documentary data on the identity of the perpetrator to terrorist structures in the Ukraine.

At the same time, it should be borne in mind that the widely presented information is of an operative nature. It has yet to be tested in court, which will establish the truth in the case.

And, of course, we would like to receive such information in a proactive, anticipatory manner. But as a professional, I should note that the detection of terrorist attacks is probabilistic. All of them cannot be prevented. The initiative is on the side of those who plan and implement them. To acquire reliable sources of information in foreign agencies that develop these crimes, in all — very cohesive, indoctrinated, sometimes consisting of two or three people – cells, in all Ukrainian communities that have settled in our vast and beautiful country. It is extremely difficult to acquire such sources that would consistently provide up-to-date, relevant and reliable information about the upcoming terrorist attacks. It is impossible to get information about all the upcoming terrorist attacks.

The vigilance of the entire population, the unity of the counterintelligence agencies and the people is necessary. The determination of the authorities is necessary not only to speak, but also to act – by political, administrative, special means and methods. Thus we will win!”

Daria Dugina was killed on August 20, 2022, her car was blown up in the Moscow region, the young woman died right at the scene. The terrorist attack was committed when Dugina was returning from the Tradition festival.

On August 22, the FSB of Russia announced that Dugina’s murder has been solved. According to the official version, the Ukrainian special services are behind the murder of the young woman. The killer turned out to be a 43-year-old citizen of Ukraine Natalia Vovk. On July 23, she and her daughter Sofia Shaban arrived in Moscow and rented an apartment in the house where Dugina lived. They followed Daria Dugina in a “Mini Cooper”.

After committing a controlled explosion of a “Toyota Land Cruiser Prado” car, driven by Dugina, on August 21, Vovk, together with her daughter, left Russia through the Pskov region for Estonia. The investigation materials were transferred to the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the murder of Daria Dugina a “vile crime.” The Russian leader posthumously awarded her the Order of Courage.
