TEHRAN (Realist English). Iran’s Chief of the General Staff Mohammad Bagheri warned that Tehran will not tolerate any changes to regional borders.

“We will not tolerate changes in the borders of the countries of the region and we advise the countries of Azerbaijan and Armenia to solve their problems through dialogue, and we cannot change the borders with war and remain silent.” Bagheri said, speaking at a ceremony dedicated to the Sacred Defense Week.

He continued: “The Iranian nation has proven throughout history that it is a peaceful nation of friendship, peaceful liaison and cooperation with regional countries and neighbors. Our military power is to defend our country against arrogants and threats. Of course, this power rushed to the aid in the face of some friendly and neighboring countries with terrorists”.

Major General Bagheri noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has created a sustainable deterrent power that has provided the basis for the progress of the country and friendly countries.

On September 22, Iran celebrates the next anniversary of the “Sacred Defense”. Festive events in memory of the eight-year Iran-Iraq war of 1980-1988 are held annually from September 22 to 28.
