Armenia needs international peacekeepers in Artsakh and Syunik

As for international observers in Armenia, they are definitely needed. But they are not enough. Let's be realistic. Observers do not prevent wars, they only record the obvious in their papers. Armenia must demand not only the entry of international observers, but first of all Yerevan should demand the entry of international peacekeepers under the auspices of the UN, Sarkis Tsaturyan believes.

MOSCOW (Realist English). Russia is making one mistake after another with regard to Armenia. This harms not only the security of Armenia, but also Russia itself. Interested why? I’ll explain.

Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused non-regional powers of trying to destabilize the Caucasus, referring to the West. The Smolenskaya Square claims that the situation around Armenia is a consequence of the Ukraine, but in fact, the Ukrainian events are God’s retribution for the betrayal of Armenia and its Artsakh province in 2020 by the ruler of a Christian country who goes to church and kisses the Cross of the Lord for Easter and Christmas. That’s, first off.

Secondly, Armenia’s relations with the United States and France should not be held hostage by Russia’s conflict with these NATO countries. Armenia has a conflict only with NATO-member Turkey, which is the closest ally of the Kremlin and of the Baku fascist regime. But Armenia has no conflict of interest with the United States or France. You have been saying for the last 12 years that the Turkish Sultanate and the Baku minisultanate are strategic allies of Russia. No problems. But then why are you concerned about the interest of the West to Armenia? Why can you have allies, but Armenia cannot have allies?

As for international observers in Armenia, they are definitely needed. But they are not enough. Let’s be realistic. Observers do not prevent wars, they only record the obvious in their papers.

Armenia must demand not only the entry of international observers, but first of all Yerevan should demand the entry of international peacekeepers under the auspices of the UN!

I spoke about this back in March of this year — in relation to Artsakh.

Since the Baku gangs have already transferred the armed conflict to Syunik, international peacekeepers should be introduced to Syunik too! The sooner the better!

Armenia and Artsakh are the only topic on which Russia and the United States can have a dialogue in the next 5-7 years: no one will talk to the Russians about gas, the Ukraine, nuclear weapons or the European security. And they will talk about Armenia and Artsakh. So draw the right conclusions and do not drive yourself into a corner: by torpedoing the Armenian statehood, the Kremlin deprives itself of the last chance for dialogue with the United States. The Kremlin will not have another chance…
