Baku gangs are preparing a new aggression in the region

The dynamics of the latest period have demonstrated that the Baku regime is preparing a new aggression in the region, which means that the CSTO may also become involved in the war, warns politician Tigran Abrahamyan.

YEREVAN (Realist English). Secretary of the “I have the Honor” faction Tigran Abrahamyan spoke at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Political Affairs and International Cooperation of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly during a discussion on the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh unleashed by the Baku regime.

“Azerbaijan presents territorial claims against the CSTO member Armenia, in case of non-fulfillment of which Azerbaijan, in fact, threatens a new war. Aliyev says in plain text that if Armenia wants to live peacefully, it must delimit the borders on the terms of Azerbaijan. And this means Azerbaijan’s direct control over large territories and many settlements of Armenia, a member of the CSTO.

These threats of Aliyev are accompanied by provocative actions against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Thus, over the past week, during one of the latest provocations, unfortunately, an Armenian serviceman was killed. And on another occasion, the Azerbaijanis opened fire on the car of the Russian military, as a result of which two of them were hospitalized,” Abrahamyan said.

The secretary of the “I have the Honor” faction also addressed the situation in Artsakh:

“The situation in Nagorno—Karabakh is even more difficult. Over the past month, shelling has been recorded in the direction of civilians, a police car that was following the Armenian section of the contact line was under fire, as a result of which three people were killed.

There was also another gross violation of the Trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020: the Azerbaijanis crossed the line of contact and ensured progress on one of the sections, while disrupting the functioning of one of the important infrastructures of Artsakh — the intercommunal road.

The Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh is making efforts to control the situation and observe the ceasefire, however, the problem requires a political solution.

Azerbaijan not only violates the trilateral document adopted by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan approving the ceasefire regime after the 44-day war, agreements reached during meetings in various formats in the subsequent period, but also makes new maximalist demands, endangering the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia, a member of the CSTO.”

According to the secretary of the “I have the Honor” faction, the dynamics of the latest period demonstrated that the Baku regime is preparing a new aggression in the region, which means that the CSTO may also become involved in the war.

“The joint statement of the leaders of the CSTO member states dated October 14, 2016, which enshrines the principle of non-use of force or threat of force in the context of the Artsakh issue.

I think the task of all of us is to prevent such a development of events and take concrete steps, forcing Azerbaijan to abandon such intentions,” Abrahamyan concluded.
