Any military successes are leveled if there is no answer to the question “what’s next”

People rallied so much around the special military operation because it gave an intuitive hope for some positive changes in the country. We clearly understand that without updating and cleansing many aspects of our lives, we will not pass this "storm" of incredible external pressure, says TV personality Artyom Sheinin.

MOSCOW (Realist English). The goal of any military campaign is to somehow influence how everything will be after it, as a result of it. And the question of “What’s next?” is always fundamental. TV personality Artyom Sheinin writes about this on the website sheynin.ru.

“It is the answer to this question that is crucial for assessing the success of military operations. Any military successes are leveled if there is no such answer or if it is unclear. I’ll give you an example. The Afghan campaign of the USSR, where all purely military tasks were solved successfully. And the overall result was perceived by the society not as success. I would venture to assume that the reason for this perception is the insufficiently clearly formulated initially “desired consequences”. That is, the very answer to the question “what’s next?”. We need to think about this now, when the fighting is still going on. And the support of the army by the people is maximum.

And a clear understanding of “what’s next?” has not been presented to society. That is, society does not doubt the need for what is being done, but many do not have an understanding of what should follow this.” he notes.

The journalist asks fair questions. Who are we now for the Ukrainian society, which is very diverse after 30 years of independence and especially after the 8 post-Maidan years? Who are we for the population of the Ukraine where the Russian troops are already stationed? And what is our message regarding the rest of the regions?

“We ourselves do not fully understand the structure of the moment that arose after February 24. We all feel that a new stage of our life, our history has come. We tell each other that “as it was, it won’t be any more.”

But we haven’t even really begun to formulate exactly how it won’t happen now and what will happen instead. In the society, there is an expectation of some kind of purification, of renewal. People rallied so much around the special military operation also because it gave an intuitive hope for some positive changes in the country. We clearly understand that without the renewal and purification of many aspects of our life, we will not pass this “storm” of incredible external pressure. We say that we are now overcoming the semi-colonial state in the economy. But this requires an understanding of what will now become the basis of our renewed society.” he believes.

In his opinion, these questions are important for us as a society, “because only by answering them, we will be able to offer something to those Ukrainians who are ready to listen and think.”:

“And only by starting to look for these answers here in Russia will we give an even clearer answer for what our soldiers are fighting for, and for what we will endure the inevitable hardships of unprecedented external pressure on our country and its economy. And at the same time we will be able to formulate our information strategy more clearly in the notorious “information war”.

On February 24, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation of the Russian Armed Forces in the Ukraine. Its goals were called “demilitarization and denazification of the Ukraine.”

Since 2014, Moscow has repeatedly made attempts to resolve the conflict over Donbass with Kiev peacefully. The Kiev regime should have simply allowed the Donbass to speak Russian and given the opportunity to live in its own way. However, instead, the Ukrainian authorities staged a blockade of the region and genocide of the local population.
