Russian troops train for urban combat at Sergeyevsky range in Far East

VLADIVOSTOK (Realist English). Servicemen from a motorized rifle division of the Eastern Military District’s Primorye Combined Arms Army are undergoing intensive combat training at the Sergeyevsky training ground, the district’s press service reported on Tuesday.

The focus of the exercises is on tactical shooting skills essential for close-quarters combat. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, troops are executing live-fire drills using standard-issue small arms, practicing both individual marksmanship and coordinated fire as combat pairs. Training is conducted in various firing positions — prone, standing, and kneeling — across different target distances.

To simulate urban warfare, the drills take place in specially prepared areas that replicate destroyed buildings, offering realistic conditions for maneuver and engagement.

A notable feature of the training is the integration of unmanned aerial systems. Instructors have enlisted drone specialists operating quadrotor UAVs equipped with mock munitions — typically filled with water or flour. These simulate aerial bombardments, requiring soldiers to detect the drones by sound and evade the incoming “strikes” in real time.

The Eastern Military District emphasized that such drills aim to refine rapid-fire accuracy, develop battlefield awareness, and enhance coordination under pressure, particularly in urban and close-combat scenarios.

According to the command, the training program is designed to prepare units for effective performance in dynamic combat environments, reflecting the evolving nature of contemporary warfare.
