“They will raise the price of gasoline so that veterans cannot set themselves on fire”: an Azerbaijani writer ridiculed Aliyev’s regime

Against the backdrop of the latest news from Azerbaijan about the rise of gasoline prices, the famous Azerbaijani writer Karamat Buyukchol left a sarcastic entry on his page in social networks: "They will raise the price of gasoline so that veterans cannot set themselves on fire."

BAKU (Realist English). Since July 13, prices for premium gasoline “AI-95” have increased in Azerbaijan. A liter of gasoline of this brand has risen in price by 25% from 1.6 manats ($0.94) to 2 manats ($1.18). As for the AI-98, its price reached 2.30 manats ($1.35).

Against the backdrop of the latest news from Azerbaijan about the rise of gasoline prices, the famous Azerbaijani writer Karamat Buyukchol left a sarcastic entry on his page in social networks:

“They will raise the price of gasoline so that veterans cannot set themselves on fire.”

In a comment to the publication, one of the citizens of the minisultanate wrote: “The price of gasoline has not risen. According to news sites, the price of gasoline has changed.”

Another Azerbaijani, Shahmar Allahverdiyev, noted in a sarcastic post that when fuel prices rise, they compare Azerbaijan with America, but when they talk about corruption, poverty, human rights, the authorities in Baku take an example from North Korea.

The writer Karamat Buyukchol was referring to an incident that occurred the other day in Sarbirabad district, when veteran Elvin Jafarov, doused himself with gasoline, committed an act of self-immolation and later died in a burn center.

The reason for such an act of the military serviceman was the disregard of the local authorities for his social problems. With his recording, Buyukchol stressed the unwillingness of the Azerbaijani leadership to deal with the problem of suicide among veterans.

The rise of AI-95 gasoline price is due to the fact that this type of fuel is imported, and prices on the world market have sharply increased. Gasoline of the AI-95 and AI-98 brands is imported to the territory of the minisultanate from Romania.

The Baku regime produces only AI-92 gasoline and diesel fuel, their prices have not changed. The cost of a liter of AI-92 gasoline is 1 manat ($0.59), and diesel fuel is 0.8 manat ($0.47) per liter. The price of AI-92 gasoline is regulated by the tariff council.
