TEHRAN (Realist English). Iran’s top security official accused US President Donald Trump of leading the United States into an unjust war with Iran under pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a statement posted Wednesday on X, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, claimed that more than 500 American soldiers have been killed since the United States joined Israel in military operations against Iran on February 28.
Larijani said the reported casualties undermine Trump’s “America First” policy and accused Washington of sacrificing US interests for Israel’s agenda.
“Mr. Trump, influenced by Netanyahu’s warmongering policies, has drawn the American people into an unjust war with Iran,” Larijani wrote. “Now he must ask whether America still comes first when hundreds of American soldiers have died.”
The Iranian official also warned that Tehran would continue retaliatory operations following the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died in a joint US-Israeli airstrike earlier in the conflict.
Larijani said Iran’s ongoing military campaign is intended to avenge Khamenei’s death and impose heavy costs on those responsible.
Iran has launched multiple rounds of missile and drone strikes against Israeli targets and US military facilities in several countries across the region since the weekend.
Iranian authorities say the operations will continue until what they describe as aggression against the country is punished.
