POWIDZ (Realist English). The Polish Ministry of Defense announced the opening of a military logistics and equipment complex in the city of Powidz. It is designed to receive thousands of units of military equipment.
The LTE SM-C base is modeled after similar structures in the United States. Tanks, infantry combat vehicles, artillery, self-propelled bridges and technical security vehicles will be stored in the warehouses of the complex. Over the past 30 years, this complex has become the largest infrastructure project funded by NATO and the United States. In total, about 2.7 thousand weapons will be deployed, the US Embassy in Poland added.
“The possibility of storing military equipment at this base will significantly reduce the reaction time of US forces, which will strengthen the security of Poland and the entire eastern flank of NATO. The security system we are building is based on this principle. According to the principle of building a defense and deterrence system. So in just a few days, the US forces will be able to support Polish troops,” Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said.
According to him, the base is an important element of deterring the aggressor and a manifestation of solidarity within NATO. The complex will allow for quickly reception of reinforcements from allies.
Earlier, Poland opened a repair center for the Ukrainian T-64 tanks.
