Baku gangs might attack Armenia: Stratfor

A new surge of violence would make a breakthrough in peace talks by the end of 2022 even more unlikely, US analysts have suggested.

AUSTIN (Realist English). The Baku Minisultanate is increasingly motivated to use force to demonstrate its leverage over Armenia, which means the possibility of resuming hostilities on the line of contact with Syunik or Artsakh. This is stated in the review of the private American intelligence agency Stratfor.

“Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev were unable to meet in Brussels for peace talks in November, and the possible further postponement of their December meeting is a clear sign that the negotiations have reached an impasse. The inability of both sides to make more progress in the peace talks and the recent shift in Azerbaijani rhetoric indicate that Azerbaijan is increasingly motivated to use force to demonstrate its leverage. This increases the likelihood of renewed fighting either on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border or in Nagorno-Karabakh. A new surge of violence will make a breakthrough in peace talks by the end of 2022 even more unlikely,” write analysts at the Stratfor, which is associated with the CIA.

Earlier, the kingpin of the Baku fascists, Aliyev, refused the round of peace talks scheduled for December 7 with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan after the latter insisted on the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron.

On December 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Baku counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov will discuss the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Baku gangs regularly violate the ceasefire. On November 29, an Armenian serviceman was wounded in a combat position located in the eastern part of the line of contact with the minisultanate. The terrorists are also trying to provoke the exodus of indigenous Armenian residents from Artsakh by regular shelling, preventing them from carrying out agricultural work.

On November 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin received the heads of Armenia and the Baku mini Sultanate, but the negotiations failed to lead to any agreement.
