TEHRAN (Realist English). The creation of a strategic economic and political alliance with Armenia meets the interests of Iran. This opinion was expressed in an interview with the publication 90eghtesadi by the former ambassador of Iran to Afghanistan and Italy Abolfazl Zaherhound.
“We should have already formed a strategic economic and political alliance with Armenia, but we neglected this,” the Iranian diplomat stressed.
Abolfazl Zaherhound also commented on the crisis in relations between Iran and the Baku regime:
“Today, the Iranian Embassy in Baku should say what measures should be taken against Aliyev’s hostile actions instead of passively waiting for a decision from Tehran.”
Earlier, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan held a working dinner in Tehran with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani. They discussed the security situation in the region and also touched upon the prospects for the development of Armenian-Iranian relations.
