TIANJIN (Realist English). Russian President Vladimir Putin landed in Tianjin on Sunday morning to attend the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV News reported. The visit follows his state trip to China in May 2024 and underscores what both governments describe as the strongest period in bilateral ties.
Russia, one of the SCO’s six founding members, has maintained close coordination with China within the framework of the Eurasian grouping. CCTV emphasized that under the strategic guidance of both heads of state, relations have become “the most stable, mature and strategic among major powers” at a time of global turbulence.
Following the Tianjin summit, Putin will travel to Beijing to take part in commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global victory in World War II.
According to Russian officials, Putin is accompanied by a “large and significant” delegation, including three deputy prime ministers, more than ten ministers, and senior representatives of major enterprises. Moscow described the visit as a further demonstration of the “high level of the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era” between Russia and China.
