MARIUPOL (Realist English). On April 12, in Mariupol, more than 1 thousand marines of the Armed Forces of the Ukraine surrendered to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Russia and of the People’s Militia of the DPR. This was reported by military correspondents Semyon Pegov and Alexander Sladkov, working on the spot, and was later confirmed by the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
“There are hundreds of wounded among them. This is the right choice. The Ukrainian groupings are being broken down on a daily basis one after another. The soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Ukraine do not know what to do with the wounded, do not understand where to turn to and what to do next, because resistance is useless, and there are practically no combat forces left. There are only some small groups, which still operate, that for some reason are afraid to go out with a white flag to the Russian troops. Don’t be afraid. Think about your relatives, about the wounded, about your own and other people’s lives, about how a stray bullet can bring tragedy into the house,” the Chechen leader wrote in his telegram channel.
According to him, there are about two hundred wounded people in the depths of Azovstal at the moment who cannot receive medical care: “It would be better for them and everyone else to end this senseless confrontation and return home to their relatives.”
Kadyrov stressed that Russian troops would still continue the liberation of Mariupol to the bitter end.
“And your step today is a conscious choice to avoid unnecessary and senseless bloodshed. I appeal to those who are still holed up in the basements and tunnels of the industrial complex: you know that we treat prisoners like human beings. Come out! Think about your own and other people’s families, as more than a thousand Marines have done today.”
According to the military correspondent Alexander Sladkov, about 400 wounded and unable to move independently, as well as more than 800 healthy Ukrainian soldiers voluntarily surrendered in Mariupol. The Ukrainian military defended one of the two main centers of resistance — the “Plant named after (Vladimir) Ilyich (Lenin).”
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that 1,026 military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including 162 officers, surrendered in Mariupol. 151 wounded Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade received primary medical care on the spot.
