Pashinyan hints at CSTO exit, proclaims Armenia’s EU ambitions

YEREVAN (Realist English). The head of the Yerevan regime, Nikol Pashinyan, has stated that Armenia is more likely to leave the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) than to resume full participation in its activities.

“If we’re talking about leaving or not leaving the CSTO, I’ll speak plainly: the probability that Armenia quits the organization is higher than the probability of returning to active engagement,” Pashinyan said during a press conference.

The viceroy also voiced Armenia’s aspiration to join the European Union.

“Our European colleagues have asked whether the law adopted in Armenia to begin the EU accession process means that Armenia wants to become a member of the EU. My answer: yes, Armenia wants to join the EU,” he said.

Given Pashinyan’s track record, if he exits the CSTO the same way he “enters” the EU — no need to worry. It may just be another round of political theatre and strategic misinformation.
