DUBAI (Realist English). The Israeli Barak-8 missile defense system has been deployed in the United Arab Emirates. This was announced in his telegram channel by the head of the international expert center ICES Alexander Tsinker.
Satellite images of one of the military bases in the United Arab Emirates, where the land version of the Israeli missile defense system “Barak-8” is deployed, have been published.
“Back in January 2022, after the attack of the Houthi suicide drones on the airport, the UAE authorities appealed to Israel with a request to purchase systems that can withstand such attacks. So far, information about the sale of the Israeli air defense system in the UAE has not been published. The Barak-8 system, designed to intercept aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, ballistic missiles, etc., is in service with the IDF, as well as the armies of India and Azerbaijan,” Alexander Tsinker reminded.
In 2022, an agreement was signed on the supply of these systems to Morocco. The Ukraine has also asked Israel to purchase these systems. Earlier, the Houthis threatened to directly attack international oil tankers in response to the “plundering of the wealth” of Yemen.
The government of Yemen, supported by Saudi Arabia, reported the interception of the drones that were launched at the southern oil terminal in the province of Hadramaut, when an oil tanker was preparing to dock. Algorithm Research’s Director Ketaki Sharma expects that the trade turnover between Israel and the UAE will exceed $10 billion over the next five years.
