MOSCOW (Realist English). A meeting of the parliamentary faction of United Russia focused on preparations for upcoming elections and a review of work completed during the autumn session of the State Duma was held with the participation of Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and Vladimir Yakushev, secretary of the party’s General Council.

Speaking at the meeting, Yakushev said that all draft laws planned by the party under the key priorities of its “people’s programme” had been adopted. He added that during preparations for the second reading of the federal budget, the faction also introduced amendments aligned with the programme’s objectives.

According to Yakushev, 2026 will be one of the most demanding years for United Russia and for Russia’s broader party-political system. The year will see a major electoral campaign for the State Duma, alongside regional parliamentary elections in 26 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

“We will conduct this campaign at a high organizational level and intend to secure sufficient representation in the State Duma,” Yakushev said. “At the same time, a large volume of work lies ahead in the regions, so overall 2026 will be a serious and highly responsible year.”

Party officials said preparations would continue in the coming months, with a focus on coordination between the federal center and regional branches ahead of what is expected to be an intensive election cycle.
