YEREVAN (Realist English). Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan has dismissed claims that Yerevan agreed to lease a corridor through the Syunik region to Azerbaijan for 99 years, calling the reports “false and baseless.”
Speaking on Armenian Public Television, Mirzoyan stressed that “there can be no talk of any territorial concession.” He explained that discussions held recently in the United States centered solely on reciprocal access: Armenia to Azerbaijani infrastructure, and Azerbaijan to Armenian infrastructure.
The minister underlined that neither the United States nor any other third party would exercise control over what some media outlets have referred to as the “Trump route.”
Mirzoyan confirmed that agreements reached so far cover only issues that were previously negotiated and officially published. The timeline for implementation and other technical details, he said, will be subject to further discussions.
