TEL AVIV (Realist English). Recent Israeli strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, military infrastructure, and high-ranking personnel were made possible by what a senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) official described as a year-long campaign of “breakthrough intelligence gathering.”
According to the official, specialized units were created over the past year within both the Israeli Air Force and the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate, tasked exclusively with monitoring Iran and preparing for a potential large-scale strike.
After a major Israeli operation inside Iran in October, the Intelligence Directorate reportedly launched “an unprecedented concentration of resources” aimed at devising a first-strike capability against senior Iranian military figures and nuclear scientists, the official said.
The campaign reflects Israel’s evolving strategy to preemptively disrupt Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities amid escalating regional tensions. Neither the IDF nor Iranian authorities have officially commented on the identities or outcomes of the targeted operations.
