BRYANSK (Realist English). Six people were killed and 42 injured in a missile strike on the Russian city of Bryansk, regional governor Alexander Bogomaz said on Wednesday, updating earlier casualty figures.
According to the governor, 29 people were hospitalized following the attack, including a minor whose condition is reported as stable.
Eight intensive care medical teams were dispatched from Moscow to assist local hospitals. Authorities have decided to transfer nine patients in serious and critical condition to specialized federal medical centers for treatment.
Bogomaz said 20 of the injured remain in hospitals in Bryansk and are in stable condition, while 13 others received medical assistance and were discharged for outpatient care.
Emergency crews completed firefighting operations late on March 10 after blazes broke out in the city following the strike.
Public transportation and private vehicle traffic in Bryansk have since resumed normal operation, the governor said.
Investigators from Russia’s Investigative Committee are currently examining the scene of the attack, while regional authorities are assessing damage to residential buildings and other infrastructure and working to secure damaged structures.
Bogomaz said the city was struck by seven Storm Shadow missiles.
Regional officials had initially reported six fatalities and 37 injuries after the attack on Tuesday, which authorities say was carried out by Ukrainian forces.
