MOSCOW (Realist English). The Russian government has allocated more than ₽60.5 billion ($660 million) in additional funding to support its subsidised lending programme for agricultural producers, according to a распоряжение signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The funds, drawn from the government’s reserve fund, will be used to preserve preferential interest rates on around 48,000 previously issued loans. Authorities say this will allow farmers to free up working capital for the production of additional volumes of raw materials and food products.
“We expect that this decision will contribute to strengthening the agro-industrial complex, and that its high-quality products will continue to be in demand among citizens,” Mishustin said at a government meeting on December 10.
With the new allocation taken into account, total state subsidies under the concessional lending programme for agricultural producers in 2025 will reach ₽250.1 billion, the government said.
The programme is a key instrument of state support for Russia’s agriculture sector, aimed at stabilising farm finances, sustaining investment and ensuring domestic food security amid broader economic pressures.
