MOSCOW (Realist English). Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin met with State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin on Monday to discuss the draft federal budget for 2026 and the planned period of 2027–2028.
Mishustin said the new budget had been prepared in line with President Vladimir Putin’s strategic objectives to achieve national development goals while addressing current economic challenges.
“The submitted budget is balanced,” Mishustin stated. “It allows the government to fully meet its obligations to citizens, creates conditions for further economic growth, and ensures the country’s defense and security.”
Volodin noted that the three-year budget plan has been thoroughly reviewed by the Duma’s specialized committees. Lawmakers are expected to consider it in the first reading on Wednesday, October 22.
He also informed the prime minister that public organizations and business associations had submitted proposals to adjust certain government initiatives included in the budget package.
Mishustin confirmed the government’s readiness for “constructive dialogue,” instructing the Finance Ministry to promptly examine the suggested amendments in coordination with the relevant ministries and agencies.
