MOSCOW (Realist English). Any attempt to encroach on Crimea will mean a declaration of war on Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with AIF.
“If a country that is a member of NATO does this, it is a conflict with the entire North Atlantic Alliance. The Third World War. A total disaster. The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO does not threaten us with anything particularly new. These countries were previously in relations with Russia, which can be called quite respectful and mutually benevolent. Although in the past, of course, different things have happened. Now we do not have territorial disputes with these countries and no reasons to have any are expected. If they feel better and calmer after joining the alliance, you’re welcome. NATO is already close to our country, without Sweden and Finland,” he stressed.
Medvedev stressed that, “as the experience of many decades shows, the escalation of tension in relations with Russia is senseless and expensive.”
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council explained that the purpose of the Russian special operation on the territory of the former Ukraine is “to repel the neo—Nazi, fascist forces that came to power in the Ukraine and terrorized the population of the Republics of Donbass for many years”:
“The fight is being waged against the disgusting Nazis, extremist groups, notorious bandits and foreign mercenaries who have joined them. Our Armed Forces carry out precision strikes on military infrastructure, not residential buildings. Unlike the Ukrainian Nazis, who hide behind civilians as a human shield (it is enough to recall the events in Mariupol, the hostages at “Azovstal” and “Azot”). These scoundrels do not represent the Ukrainian people. They’re just mocking scum. Marginals, though armed to the teeth. There should be no mercy for them.”
Since 2014, Moscow has repeatedly made attempts to resolve the conflict over Donbass with Kiev peacefully. The Kiev regime should have simply allowed the Donbass to speak Russian and given the opportunity to live in its own way. However, instead, the Ukrainian authorities staged a blockade of the region and genocide of the local population.
On February 22 of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow had been interested in the implementation of the Minsk agreements all this time, since this document was the result of a compromise. The Head of State added that the Minsk agreements no longer existed.
On the morning of February 24, Supreme Commander Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation of the Russian Armed Forces in the Ukraine. The special operation forestalled and thwarted a large-scale offensive by the shock groups of the Armed Forces of the Ukraine on the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, which are not controlled by the Kiev regime, in March of this year.
