STEPANAKERT (Realist English). Members of the Artsakh parliament called on Vladimir Putin, Joseph Biden and Emmanuel Macron to take measures to launch the work of the Stepanakert airport.
The deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, headed by Artur Tovmasyan, appealed to the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries Vladimir Putin, US President Joseph Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron with a call for concrete actions to be taken towards the opening of the Stepanakert-Goris highway and the operation of the Stepanakert airport. This is reported by the agency “Armenpress” with reference to the National Assembly of Artsakh.
“Today is the 25th day, as the only road connecting Artsakh with Armenia and the outside world continues to remain closed.
The problem of Artsakh was the only conflict on which all the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair countries have adhered to an almost uniform point of view. The people of Artsakh, faced with an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, by and large need not only targeted statements, but also, we think, need effective and visible steps in this direction.
Patients with serious health problems are deprived of necessary medicines and medical services, Artsakh is deprived of supplies of baby food and food and basic necessities.
We call on the civilized world, in particular, the Minsk Group co-chair countries, to take concrete actions to open a corridor or operate an air bridge, Stepanakert airport, which will prevent an alarming humanitarian crisis in Artsakh in winter,” the appeal reads.
In turn, Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan called the opening of an air corridor the only way to solve the crisis.
“We are confident that the Stepanakert Airport is ready to receive medium-sized aircraft. It’s just that it’s more of a political issue, and the issue of pressure from international organizations, the United States, Europe would be very important. The opening of the air bridge is the only solution in this situation that will ensure stability and people’s faith that we will be able to spend the winter months in normal conditions,” Vardanyan said in an interview News.am .
Speaking about whether the available reserves would be enough, Vardanyan assured that the Republic will cope, but we had to be prepared for a long blockade.
