Pfizer CEO warned of an impending wave of COVID-19

There is a new wave. I believe that not everybody has done the fourth dose and we also have the Omicron variant right now, which is more challenging to control, said Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.

JERUSALEM (Realist English). Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said that each country has its own elaborations on the issue of vaccination, which take into account the characteristics of each of the states, so he does not give any recommendations to governments, but only provides information and data.

“There is a new wave. I believe that not everybody has done the fourth dose and we also have the Omicron variant right now, which is more challenging to control. The vaccine, as Israeli data has proven, reduces the chances of going to hospital or dying.” he stressed in an interview with the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post.

The head of Pfizer also believes that existing methods of prevention and control of COVID-19 allow people to “live their lives”, despite the approaching new wave of coronavirus.

During the interview, Albert Burla praised Pfizer’s successful partnership with Israel in the fight against the pandemic and said that this country made a huge impression on him.

“This is a miracle, what is happening here in Israel, which is right now one of the most advanced nations in the world,” he said. “This is a miracle of which all Jews should be very proud.”

In early May, WHO Head Tedros Ghebreyesus called inequality in access to means to combat COVID-19 a moral defeat. He pointed to the disparity between the profits received by pharmaceutical companies and the availability of treatment in developing countries.

The limited number of effective antiviral drugs and their high prices continue to make these funds inaccessible to low- and middle-income countries.
